Hepatitis A Vaccination

The Hepatitis A vaccine protects against a highly contagious viral infection that affects the liver.

It is particularly recommended for travellers visiting areas with poor sanitation or limited access to clean water, including many parts of Africa, Asia, Central and South America, and Eastern Europe.

What is Hepatitis A & How is it Spread?

Hepatitis A is a viral liver infection spread through contaminated food or water, or through close contact with someone who is infected. It can cause symptoms such as fever, fatigue, abdominal pain, nausea, and jaundice. While most people recover fully, the illness can be severe and prolonged in some cases.

Hepatitis A is most common in areas where sanitation is poor and access to clean drinking water is limited. Travellers to high-risk countries are advised to get vaccinated well before departure.

For more information, speak to our pharmacy team or visit the NHS website.
