MMR Vaccination
The MMR vaccine helps protect against measles, mumps, and rubella—three highly contagious viral infections that can lead to serious health complications.
It is recommended for anyone who has not received two doses in childhood, especially before travel or during local outbreaks.
What is MMR & How is it Spread?
MMR stands for measles, mumps, and rubella - viruses that spread easily through coughing, sneezing, or direct contact. All three infections can cause complications, including fever, rash, swollen glands, and, in severe cases, meningitis or hearing loss.
These diseases are still present in many parts of the world, and outbreaks can occur when vaccination rates drop. Two doses of the MMR vaccine provide strong and lasting protection, making it an essential part of public health for children, adults, and travellers alike.

What to Expect from Our MMR Vaccination Service
The MMR vaccine is available at D H Roberts Pharmacy as a two-dose course, with the second dose given at least four weeks after the first. Both doses are required for full protection.
Here’s how the service works:
1. Complete the Travel Health Questionnaire: Start by completing our online form to share your health history and vaccination needs.
2. Consultation and Review: An independent prescriber will review your form. If appropriate, a prescription will be issued and sent directly to the pharmacy.
3. Schedule Your Appointment: Please contact D H Roberts Pharmacy two days after submitting your form to book your vaccination appointment.
The MMR vaccine is priced at £45 per dose. If you're unsure of your vaccination history or preparing for travel, this is a vital step in protecting yourself and those around you.
