Hepatitis B Vaccination
The Hepatitis B vaccine helps protect against a viral infection that affects the liver and can lead to chronic disease, liver failure, or cancer.
It is strongly recommended for healthcare workers, long-term travellers, those working in remote areas, and individuals who may be at risk through medical procedures abroad.
What is Hepatitis B & How is it Spread?
Hepatitis B is a serious viral infection transmitted through contact with infected blood or bodily fluids. It can spread through unprotected sex, sharing needles, medical procedures in high-risk countries, or close contact with an infected person.
The infection is found worldwide but is more common in areas such as:
-
Sub-Saharan Africa
-
East and Southeast Asia
-
Parts of Eastern Europe and South America
Vaccination offers long-term protection and is a key part of safe travel planning for those heading to high-risk regions. For more information, speak to our pharmacy team or visit the NHS website.
